§ 9.32.180. Tattoo parlors.

  • A.

    It is unlawful for a person less than twenty-one (21) years of age to be present at or upon the premises of any tattoo parlor, whether or not accompanied and supervised by a parent, legal guardian, or other responsible companion, unless said person less than twenty-one (21) years of age is engaged in a business or occupation which the laws of this state authorize a person less than twenty-one (21) years of age to perform.

    B.

    It shall be unlawful for any parent, legal guardian, or other responsible companion to knowingly permit a person in his custody or control to violate Subsection A of this section.

    C.

    It shall be unlawful for any tattoo parlor owner, tattoo parlor manager, tattoo artist, or tattoo parlor employee to knowingly permit a person less than twenty-one (21) years of age to be present at or upon the premises of any tattoo parlor, whether or not accompanied and supervised by a parent, legal guardian, or other responsible companion, unless said person less than twenty-one (21) years of age is engaged in a business or occupation which the laws of this state authorize a person less than twenty-one (21) years of age to perform.

    D.

    Notwithstanding the foregoing provisions, it shall not be a violation of this section for a person less than twenty-one (21) years of age to be present at or upon the premises of any tattoo parlor, or for a parent, legal guardian, other responsible companion, tattoo parlor owner, tattoo parlor manager, tattoo artist, or tattoo parlor employee to knowingly permit a person less than twenty-one (21) years of age to be present at or upon the premises of a tattoo parlor, so long as the person less than twenty-one (21) years of age is present at or upon the premises of a tattoo parlor for the purpose of being offered or receiving a tattoo from a person licensed to practice medicine in all of its branches.

    E.

    A person convicted of violating this section shall be fined not more than seven hundred fifty dollars ($750.00) for each offense.
