The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to hospitals, nursing homes, sanitariums,
or persons holding an unrevoked certificate to practice the healing arts under the
laws of the State of Illinois, or persons working under the direction of any such
person in any such establishment. Barbers and cosmetologists lawfully practicing their
profession shall also be exempt from this chapter provided they hold a current unrevoked
license or registration issued by the State of Illinois pursuant to the Barber, Cosmetology,
Esthetics, and Nail Technology Act of 1985 (225 ILCS 410/1-1 et seq.).
